Cyclogyl (Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride) is a prescription eye drop used to dilate the pupil and to prevent the eye from focussing. Cyclogyl ophthalmic may be used by your doctor before a surgical procedure or before an examination of the inside of your eye. This medication may also be used to relax the muscles of your eye. Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride belongs to a class of medications known as anticholinergics. It works by temporarily widening the pupil of the eye and relaxing the eye muscles.

The common side effects of Cyclogyl may include blurred vision, mild eye irritation or redness, puffy eyelids, or extra sensitivity to light
Seek emergency medical attention if you have any signs of an allergic reaction. Contact your doctor if you have any of the following side effects:
• Change in vision (blurred or tunnel vision, eye pain);
• Constipation or change in urination or decreased sweating;
• Drowsiness;
• Dry mouth or nose;
• Fast heartbeats;
• Fever, skin rash or flushing;
• Severe burning or redness
Infants and children may be more likely to have side effects from Cyclogyl. Watch for the following side effects for at least 30 minutes after your child has been treated with Cyclogyl.
• Confusion, problems with speech;
• Feeling restless or excited;
• Feeding problems, stomach bloating;
• Loss of coordination;
• Unusual changes in behavior
You should not use Cyclogyl if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride or if you have angle-closure glaucoma. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history especially if you have glaucoma. You should also tell your doctor about all the medications you use including prescription, OTC, herbal products and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Cyclopentolate and other medications. This medication can cause blurred vision for up to 24 hours after using it. Be careful if you drive or do any activity that requires a clear vision. Cyclogyl may make more sensitive to light. Protect your eyes from the sun or any bright light until the effects of this medication wear off. It is unknown if this medication will harm an unborn baby or passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
