Cerubidine (Daunorubicin)

Cerubidine ( Daunorubicin) is a prescription medication that is used alone or in combination with other cancer medications to treat Leukemia and other cancers such as lymphosarcoma, reticulosarcoma, Wilm’s tumour and Ewing tumours. Daunorubicin belongs to the group of cancer-fighting medications known as anthracyclines. This medication works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells. Cerubidine injection is for intravenous use only and should not be administered by either the intramuscular or the subcutraneous routes. This medication must be given into a rapidly flowing intravenous infusion.

Side Effects

The common side effects of Cerubidine may include constipation, diarrhea, nausea, temporary hair loss and vomiting. This medication may cause your urine to turn a reddish color which is a normal harmless side effect of the drug.

Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:

• Black or bloody stools;
• Bloody urine;
• Uusual bleeding or bruising;
• Vomit that looks like coffee grounds
