Camptosar (Irinotecan) is a prescription medication that is used to treat cancers of the colon and rectum. It interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. Irinotecan belongs to the group of cancer-fighting medications known as antineoplastics. This medication works by blocking the enzyme topoisomerase so the cancer cells cannot divide and grow. Camptosar is usually given in combination with other cancer medications and chemotherapy.

Camptosar Side Effects

Use reliable forms of birth control while using this medication. It is unknown whether this medication passes into breast milk, breast–feeding is not recommended. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
