Apokyn (Apomorphine Hydrochloride Injection) is a prescription medication that is used to treat loss of control of body movements in people with advanced Parkinson’s disease. Apomorphine Hydrochloride Injection is a dopamine agonist. This medication works by helping restore the balance of dopamine in the brain. Apokyn can decrease tremor, stiffness, slowed movement and unsteadiness. Apomorphine is used to treat “off” episodes when they occur. It does not prevent the episodes from occurring. This medication is used in combination with other medications prescribed for Parkinson’s disease. The recommended starting dose is 0.2 ml, going up to a maximum of 0.6 ml depending on the effectiveness and tolerance.
Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand Apokyn from Canada manufactured by Paladin. It is available in the strength of 10 mg/1 ml (5 x 3 ml) injections in one pack. There is no generic available for this medication.
